WHAT’S SO GREAT ABOUT SIP?

Today, advances in technology are expanding the capabilities of intelligent private networking and improving service to the customer, while reducing capital costs. Business demands are stretching network capabilities to include telephony, video and the web world into an integrated media to be manipulated for business efficiency.

Once such application is SIP Trunking. SIP can improve business communication by adding many valuable features, AND allows businesses to maximize the return on their investment in PPX solutions and Telecom services.

First things first - SIP stands for Session Initiation Protocol. This protocol was developed to address the issue of multiple standards for VoIP protocols. SIP is a signaling protocol for creating, modifying, and terminating sessions of media streams such as Voice over IP (VoIP) telephone calls.

What is a business SIP trunk? - Simply put, a SIP Trunk is a single voice call, routed over your network (or sometimes the Internet) connection. SIP uses your MPLS or network connection to bring voice services of tomorrow to your clients today. Trunks are purchased according to the number of anticipated simultaneous calls in an enterprise. If you find you need more call capacity, you can simply add trunks as needed. SIP Trunking is your conduit to a converged IP world.

Benefits of SIP Trunking

Now you can add SIP trunking on a converged infrastructure, reducing costs, while adding redundancy, flexibility and reliability. SIP lets you go beyond the limitations of traditional voice services.

Sip trunks work with any PBX and directly with analog phones. The service easily integrates to any PBX through the use of an Integrated Access Device (IAD) or directly to certified IP-PBX’s like Cisco Call Manager or Asterisk.

Organizations with multiple offices enjoy the benefit of no charges for calls that are local to any office or are in between offices.

Failover and survivability options can guarantee uptime for mission critical uptimes. And can be offered to provide 99.999% uptime.

The Bottom Line

SIP lets your business do more. Both voice and data can now share the same infrastructure while delivering more capacity and flexibility and reducing expenses. You no longer need to have remote locations on the same phone numbers as the corporate site or teleworkers working on their home telephone lines.
Supported Features

Local Number Portability.
Keep your existing phone number when switching to a new VoIP service even if you switch phone companies. Ensure that you never miss a call and avoid the cost/time associated with changing phone numbers.

Remote Phone Numbers.
Gain access to phone numbers in remote locations without having a physical presence enabling a local phone number in other cities or states, and ring to your primary headquarters’ phone number.

E911/911 Service.
If replacing a traditional phone service with VoIP, Straitshot can provide E911/911 registered emergency service.

411 Service.
Straitshot can provide access to Directory Assistance via 411 from VoIP phone systems.
